Bilateral periacetabular osteotomy: Definition, Uses, and Clinical Overview
Bilateral periacetabular osteotomy is a hip-preserving surgery performed on both hips. It reshapes and reorients the hip socket (acetabulum) to improve how it covers the femoral head. It is most commonly used for symptomatic hip dysplasia in adolescents and adults with relatively preserved cartilage. It may be done as two staged operations or, in selected cases, during one surgical setting.
